Our DACA students embody the spirit of all Heritage students- intelligent, hard-working, and eager to earn a college degree. And just like their American-born classmates, they too aspire to serve our community and make the world a better place.
The only thing that sets our DACA students apart from their classmates is their immigration status.
Can you find the DACA students in this photo?
Neither can we.
Heritage University is committed to supporting ALL of our students to help them achieve their dreams. We were founded to serve the underserved, and that philosophy continues to apply today.
DACA recipients are not eligible for federal student aid and they almost always, like the vast majority of our student population, require financial assistance to attend college. The additional financial burden of the DACA registration fee ($495) and often necessary legal expenses can be overwhelming on their exceedingly tight budgets.
We recognize that Congress is charged with finding a long-term solution for DACA recipients, but in the meantime, we want these students to continue in their pursuit of a college education. Your contribution to the DACA Emergency Fund will help offset expenses related to their registration and allow them to focus on their studies and their futures.
We invite you to spend some time getting to know our DACA students in the short video below:
Please note: In the event our DACA students are relieved from this financial obligation, your funds will automatically be redirected to the Heritage University DREAMER Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarship support to this group of students.
