Mission & Vision

Academic Skills Center

The mission of the Academic Skills Center is to facilitate independent learning by providing free, accessible academic support to the Heritage University community.

The Academic Skills Center recognizes the uniqueness of each student in Heritage’s diverse student body. The Center believes that students bring a wealth of experience with them and its primary duty is to help them become successful learners as they translate their life knowledge into academic knowledge. The Center supports students as they strive to reach academic excellence. Its goal is to create a relaxed, family-oriented environment in which employees are seen as members of each student’s academic support network.

Writing Center

Writing is a skill that takes a lifetime to master.  The Heritage University Writing Center is dedicated to supporting all writers on this path, regardless of their level, by helping them understand the conventions appropriate for their work.  But we also cultivate a writer’s confidence because we believe a self-assured writer is unafraid to take risks to become better, and embraces the lifelong challenge writing presents.  We provide our writers with the tools they need to be successful with specific projects, but focus on helping writers themselves grow and become self-reliant.  We strive to build academic culture with bridges that link students, faculty, and staff together by providing educational opportunities for the entire campus.

The Writing Center is your academic partner, here to serve students, faculty, and staff alike.  Students can find an energetic space to write, one-on-one tutoring, group sessions, and student-led workshops.  Faculty and staff can find a collaborative team that provides in-class visits, embedded tutoring, and guest lectures.
