DACA Giving

Help Support Our DACA Students

When you give to Heritage, you may choose to donate to our DACA Giving fund. Our DACA students embody the spirit of all Heritage students – intelligent, hardworking and eager to earn a college degree. And just like their American-born classmates, they, too, aspire to serve our community and make the world a better place. The only thing that sets our DACA students apart from their classmates is their immigration status.

What is DACA?

DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Students in this program, also known as DREAMERS, came to the United States as children and are protected from deportation. Since 2012, nearly 800,000 DACA recipients were able to access school and work legally in the United States. Although DACA recipients may apply for a Social Security number, driver’s license and work permits, they are not eligible for federal financial assistance.

How You Can Help

Heritage is committed to helping ALL our students achieve their dreams. We were founded to serve the underserved, and that mission is part of all that we do. DACA students, like a majority of our student population, require financial assistance to attend college and earn degrees. They face particular financial obstacles, including the DACA registration fee ($495) and legal expenses, in addition to their tuition.

Our goal is to help our DACA students in their pursuit of a college degree. We have created a DACA Emergency Fund that will help offset expenses related to DACA, as well as a DREAMER Scholarship that will cover the cost of tuition for recipients. These resources help our talented students focus on their studies and their futures without having to worry about how to afford a quality college education.

Transform the lives of DACA students at Heritage and give to the DACA Emergency Fund. While Congress seeks a long-term solution for DACA recipients, this fund will help our current students in need of aid. In the event our DACA students are relieved from this financial obligation, your funds will automatically be redirected to the Heritage University DREAMER Scholarship Fund.

Heritage University is committed to supporting outstanding students in our community who are not eligible to receive federal financial aid. Our Dreamers Scholarship will provide selected recipients with 100% of tuition for a maximum of 5 years towards the completion of a first bachelor’s degree.

Maria Soto — Bachelor of Social Work Class of 2020

At Heritage University, we believe that a college education should be accessible to anyone with the talent and drive to pursue a degree — regardless of economics, culture or geographic locations. Maria is one the of many incredible minds who have proven that access to opportunity can make a lifetime of difference.

We believe it is vital to the future of our world to reverse the historical underrepresentation in higher education and community leadership of some cultural and socioeconomic groups.
