About the Program

The Social Work program at Heritage prepares students for entry-level generalist social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. An open classroom environment is encouraged to allow students to contribute their stories and discuss the changes and relevant issues taking place in current society and their own communities.

The program gives students the opportunity to seek other educational options as well, with the coursework building upon the University’s required liberal arts curriculum. As a general practitioner, students ultimately engage in a multi-layered practice within a diverse society. To help with this transition, special emphasis is placed on the needs of the multicultural rural constituency and personal values. The Heritage philosophy respects and supports the rights, the dignity, and the worth of all people. Heritage recognizes the potential of each student and strongly believes that an individual’s diverse cultural and ethnic background is an asset to his/her educational process.
