About the Program

The Nursing program at Heritage prepares students for entry-level nursing by providing individualized learning experiences through classroom theory, clinical practice, and community involvement. Heritage maintains a low student-to-faculty ratio which allows for more frequent communication and a supportive environment that helps shape the program to fit the personal needs and abilities of the student. We currently offer the following options to help advance your future in healthcare:

Practical Nurse with an Associate of Science Degree
This program combines the Practical Nurse certificate with prerequisite coursework for an RN program. It allows students to gain experience in the LPN role before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This program meets the educational and hands-on needs of future professional nurses and is committed to preparing students for the ever-changing healthcare system. Students explore and increase their understanding of the significance of cultural diversity in the healthcare industry. Students who complete coursework for the nursing certificate are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN board exam and apply for a BSN program if desired.

Associate of Arts in Pre-Nursing
This program provides students with the prerequisite coursework required for a BSN program. Students in this program do not complete nursing coursework, nor do they attend clinicals. Faculty members closely monitor the coursework to ensure equivalency with that required at many of the Washington State nursing programs.
