About the Program
The Nursing program at Heritage prepares students both entry-level nursing and advanced degrees by providing individualized learning experiences through classroom theory, clinical practice, and community involvement. Heritage maintains a lower student-to-faculty ratio, which allows for frequent communication and a supportive environment that fits the personal needs and abilities of the student. Our value system, when it comes to examining program candidates, favors both their character and the passion they have towards nursing together with previous academics.
We currently offer the following options to help advance your future in healthcare:
Practical Nursing Certificate
Students in this program participate in the same nursing coursework as the Associate of Science in Nursing program and are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN board exam upon completion. Graduates who want to enter a bachelor’s degree in nursing program or an Registered Nurse program, will need to complete additional general education coursework.
Practical Nurse with an Associate of Science Degree
This program combines the Practical Nurse certificate with prerequisite coursework for an RN program. It allows students to gain experience in the LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) role before pursuing our RN (Registered Nurse) program or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This program meets the educational and hands-on needs of future professional nurses and prepares students for the ever-changing healthcare system. Students who complete coursework for the AS in Nursing degree are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN board exam.
LPN to RN Associate of Nursing Degree
This program provides aspiring Registered Nurses (RN) with a comprehensive approach to nursing as well as the opportunity to continue on to graduate study programs. Graduates of this program can sit for the NCLEX-RN tests. In addition to courses that fulfill the prerequisites to be an RN, we also offer nursing courses with clinical practice in several medical fields. Ideal candidates should be academically drive, responsible, compassionate and attentive - all essential qualities for effective RNs.
