The primary goal of the HEP Alliance is to help seasonal worker students obtain a GED and be placed in career positions, military services, post-secondary or other training programs. It is a partnership between Heritage University and Yakima Valley Opportunities Industrialization Center's (OIC) Program and Washington State Migrant Council (WSMC).
In addition to our academic program, the following services are provided to all HEP students:
- Computer training
- Tutorial assistance
- Academic and vocational counseling
- Paid tuition, books, GED test fees, and supplies
- Bilingual instructors
- Career and job readiness
Do I Qualify for HEP?
In addition to our academic program, the following services are provided to all HEP students:
- Have spent, or have husband, wife, parent/guardian who has spent, at least 75 days as a migrant or seasonal farmworker during the past two years (this includes any activity directly related to production of crops, cultivation or harvesting of tress, dairy products, poultry, livestock or fisheries).
- Possess a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) of the Title I Migrant Education Program.
- Possess a copy of the eligibility certificate for the OIC/WIA 167 Youth Program
- Be at least 16 years of age. (Applicants who are age 19 or younger must have a withdrawal form from the last school district attended)
- Lack a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
