Welcome to the College of Education and Psychology at Heritage University!

For over 25 years Heritage University has focused on transforming lives and communities across Washington by making quality, higher education accessible to traditionally underserved and isolated populations. During this time our College has embodied this mission and developed a growing reputation throughout the state for the quality of our graduates.

The College of Education and Psychology prepares effective, collaborative, and effective teachers, counselors, and school administrators for service and leadership in diverse communities. All programs are accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and approved by the Washington Professional Educator Standards Board.

Although Heritage's main campus is located near Toppenish, the University also operates regional undergraduate and graduate educational programs. These include five regional sites located at Seattle- South Seattle Community College, Moses Lake- Big Bend Community College, Omak- Wenatchee Valley College-Omak, Wenatchee- Wenatchee Valley College, Tri-Cities-Columbia Basin College, Yakima, and Toppenish. In addition, we currently offer graduate programs at Centralia College.

Graduate Education Degrees & Certificates Offered Major Area
Masters Degrees Master of Education (M.Ed.) Specializations:
  Master in Teaching ( M.I.T.) Residency Teaching Certificate
(kindergarten through eight grade)
Washington State Certificates Residency Principal Certificate For students who hold a M.Ed., hold a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate, and have 3 years successful teaching experience; or ESA Certificate holders, with 3 years experience who can demonstrate successful school-based instructional experience. Program Admission required.
  Residency Program Administrator Certificate For students who hold a M.Ed. Program Admission required.
  Professional Certificate For candidates who hold a Washington Residency certificate, employed in a state approved school, and are recommended to begin the program by their district. Candidates should have two years teaching experience prior to beginning this program.
  Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Received in conjunction with Heritage University's M.Ed. in Counseling.

Like many institutions across the nation, the Heritage University College of Education and Psychology uses an electronic portfolio system to track student achievement of program competencies. Courses require assignments to be posted to this system for faculty review. This portfolio will be a record of completion and can be part of the application process as you begin your education career to showcasing your work.
