The Alan Pifer Academic Skills Center (ASC) at Heritage University provides several services uniquely designed for new and returning students. The ASC offers individual tutoring and small group study sessions in English, Mathematics, and all general university requirements. The Center’s goal is to help each student become a successful, independent learner.

We offer tutoring in a variety of subjects, including math and English. You don’t need an appointment to meet with a tutor – just stop by the ASC and we’ll be glad to help you.

Tutorial support is provided by Heritage University faculty members and by peer tutors who are hired on a semester by semester basis. Most peer tutors are work-study students who have mastered particular subjects, while other tutors are specifically hired with funds from the TRIO and CAMP Programs.

In addition to a computer lab with 12 top-of-the line computers, the ASC is equipped with additional 21 computers for general use. Computer-assisted instruction (CAI) is available to students who prefer to study independently. Some software is used in conjunction with courses. For instance, PLATO and Rosetta Stone offer specific modules for students to work on.
