Heritage University students are a great investment. My story is a perfect example of that.

Back in high school, I was an average student more interested in boxing gloves than books. I wasn’t the best in the ring, though. So I was lucky to have good parents and mentors like my boxing coach to push me in new direction.

My school supervisor was the first to recommend I go to Heritage. He even scheduled an appointment for me with the recruiters. I was passive about attending college, but Heritage made everything fall into place with scholarships and other financial aid.

Given I had no idea of what I wanted to be in life, Heritage was the best thing that could have happened to me. I went from an average high school student to a regular on the college Dean’s List—on top of holding down a full time job. I’m finally headed in the right direction.

Today, I’m a senior majoring in Criminal justice with a minor in psychology. I would like to profile criminals for the FBI or the U.S. Marshalls or perhaps work with local-area law enforcement. Right now, however, my goal is to earn my Ph.D.

As the first person in my family to attend college, I’ve also was an inspiration to my two younger brothers who are now also pursuing degrees. I’m proud to have raised the bar for them like Heritage raised the bar for me.
