Upon successful completion of the application process, a student is admitted
to the University as a graduate student. Being admitted to the University
is the first step required in order to be admitted to a degree or certification
program but successful admission does not imply that the student will be
accepted to a degree or certification program. Students may receive degree
or certification application materials from the chair of each specialized
program.
Three specialized programs:
Counseling:
- Hold an undergraduate degree, preferably in psychology; a minimum of nine
semester credits in psychology is required.
- Formal admittance to graduate school
- Application to the Counselor Preparation Program
- Official transcripts must indicate at least a 3.0 GPA for the last two
years of undergraduate or graduate work.
- Submit two (2) confidential recommendations from current or former employers,
instructors, or colleagues regarding your character and potential counseling
skills.
- Complete a Letter of Intent.
- Submit current résumé.
Educational Administration:
- Formal admittance to graduate school
- Application to the Administrator Preparation Program
- Three recommendations from administrators
- Three years teaching or ESA experience (does not include substitute teaching)
- Copy of valid Washington State teaching or ESA certificate
- Written statement addressing educational and professional goals
Master In Teaching (M.I.T.):
- Formal admittance to graduate school
- Application to the M.I.T. program following program guidelines
- Minimum G.P.A. 2.6 for the last 30 semester credits (45 quarter credits)
of undergraduate course work
- Successful completion of the Washington Educator Skills Test – Basic (WEST-B)
