Placement Testing is required for new or transfer students who have applied for admission to Heritage University and do not bring college-level credit for English and/or mathematics. Testing is administered in the Testing Center located in the Academic Skills Center (ASC) inside the Kathleen Ross Center Building on the Toppenish campus. The test results determine students’ placement in English, mathematics, and reading, ensuring greater student success as they begin their academic careers at Heritage University. Students must meet a college level in math and/or English to be admitted to Heritage.
Approximate time for the initial assessment can be anywhere from one to three hours. A copy of the Compass test is given to the tester and access to placement results is provided to the Admissions and Advising departments. A copy of the test results is kept in the Testing Center.
Students must bring picture ID and arrive on campus 20 minutes before test time and report to the Student Services Building in order to obtain a Visitors Parking Permit and to pay for the test.
