Placement Testing is required for students who have applied for admission to Heritage University. Testing is administered in the Testing Center located in the Academic Skills Center (ASC) inside the Kathleen Ross Center on the Toppenish campus. The test results determine students’ placement in English, mathematics, and reading, ensuring greater student success as they begin their academic careers at Heritage University. Students must meet a college level in math and English to be admitted to Heritage.
The COMPASS and COMPASS-ESL along with a locally developed writing exam are given. Approximate time for the initial assessment can be anywhere from two to three hours. Results are provided to students and their advisors by the Admissions office. Students receive a copy of the testing results with the Admissions letter. However, a personal or telephone conference are other available options to receive testing results. A copy of the results is also kept in the Testing Center.
The placement test includes the following sections:
COMPASS (Computerized Testing)
Short Essay (Summary & Response)
Testing takes anywhere from one to three hours.
Students must bring picture ID and arrive on campus 15 minutes before test time.
