Placement Testing is free and given to students who have applied for admissions and intent to attend Heritage University. Testing is administered at the Academic Skills Center (ASC) located in the Library Learning Center on the Toppenish campus. The test results determine students’ placement in English, mathematics, and computer science classes, ensuring greater student success as they begin their academic careers at Heritage University. Students must place at the minimum academic level in math and English to be admitted to Heritage.
The COMPASS and COMPASS-ESL along with a locally developed writing exam are given. Approximate time for the initial assessment can be anywhere from two to three hours. Results are provided to students and their advisors by the Admissions office. Students will receive testing results with the Admissions letter. However, a personal or telephone conference are other available options to receive testing results. A copy of the results is kept in the ASC.

COMPASS (Computerized Testing)
Short Essay (Summary & Response)
Testing takes anywhere from one to three hours.
Students need to bring picture ID and arrive at the ASC 15 minutes before test time.

Placement testing appointments can be set through the admissions counselor or by contacting the ASC directly.
Testing days:
Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m.
Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
