About the Environmental Science Program
The Environmental Science program at Heritage University prepares students for careers that deal with complex environmental issues like air and water quality, conservation, watershed management, and natural resourced planning. Emphasizing biology, chemistry, and geology, the program examines Earth's ecosystems, climate changes and effects on the environment by human activities.
Students in the program complete research projects and internships with top environmental agencies and programs such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service, the Environmental Protection Agency and major research universities. Upon completion of this program, students can apply their skills to a variety of careers within industry, nonprofit organizations and government as well as take advanced graduate studies in environmental sciences.
The long-term job outlook for environmental scientists is excellent. The Bureau of Labor statistics expects employment to increase substantially through 2018.

Our students have completed air and water quality studies in partnership with the EPA, assisted NASA in mapping regional changes to naturally occurring plant materials, examined salmon DNA, completed genetic studies on insects, and researched renewable energy sources.
