About the Astronomy Program
Heritage University and Columbia Basin College have partnered to provide a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with specialization in Astronomy that is unmatched by any other Washington State school. CBC’s exceptional resources in the Columbia Basin and Heritage’s quality curriculum are the perfect combination for those looking to become skilled professionals in the industry or desirable candidates for continued graduate school studies.
Hands-On Learning
CBC and Heritage are members of a select number of users that have access to the largest professional observatory and telescope (which can also be controlled remotely) in the State of Washington in addition to operating an impressive computer system for students. There is also a faculty- and student-run observatory onsite at CBC. This means our Astronomy students get exceptional training with the astronomical instruments that are used in the field today. We are also looking forward to a new planetarium on the CBC Pasco campus that’s under construction, which will increase students’ observatory time by eliminating restrictions such as weather or temperature.
