Clinical Laboratory Science Certificate
The Medical Laboratory Science Certificate is intended to train students interested in pursuing the medical laboratory sciences. It is offered to students who have completed a Bachelor of Science degree and who satisfy all the prerequisites for this program. To qualify for acceptance into this program, students must have taken a minimum of 16 semester hours of chemistry. This includes a year of general chemistry and organic chemistry and/or biochemistry. Students must have completed a minimum of 16 semester hours of biological science. The biology courses must be acceptable toward a major in biological science and must include general biology and one semester of bacteriology (microbiology). Immunology is required either as a separate course as part of another course. A minimum of one course in university-level mathematics is required.

Educational Administration Certificate Only
This course of study is for individuals who have a minimum of three years of teaching and/or educational staff associate experience (for Principal Certification), hold a master’s degree in an appropriate educational field, and desire a Washington State Principal or Program Administrator Residency Certification.
English/Language Arts Certificate
The English/Language Arts Certificate is available for those who are not currently pursuing a Master’s degree but would like recognition of their accomplishment. Thus, it provides a “goal” for students who seek additional credentials (such as endorsement or coursework to support job applications for faculty development) but already have a Master’s degree.
Homeland Security Certificate
This certificate is designed to provide current and future criminal justice practitioners with the skills and knowledge needed to be effective in a national security work environment. This certificate is offered online by Heritage University through OCICU (Online Consortium of Independent Colleges & Universities (http://www.ocicu.org). Transfer credits from other institutions are not accepted as part of this program.
Natural Resources Certificate
A student completing this certificate program is qualified to work in governmental and industrial positions that require certification in natural resources. The curriculum includes 19 semester hours in professional course work. All courses in the Natural Resources Certificate may be applied toward the A.A. and B.S. degrees in Natural Resources.

Teacher Professional Certification
The Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) and the Washington State Legislature have changed teacher certification requirements. September 1, 2011, marked the beginning of the external assessment process for ALL teachers holding a Residency Teaching Certificate. Teachers will have the option of completing ProTeach Portfolio requirements individually or through a state approved support program. Professional certificate candidates will be responsible for submitting their ProTeach Portfolios and the evaluation fee, following guidelines set by the PESB. Heritage University offers a support program for all teachers who would like individualized guidance to understand and complete the ProTeach Portfolio assessment process. Teachers interested in attending our support program must complete admission to the university.
