The College of Arts and Sciences offers two master degrees: Master of Arts - Medical Science, M.A. and Master of Science - Physician Assistant, M.S.P.A. Please find information about each listed below. For more detailed information, please refer to the Heritage University online catalog.
Master of Arts - Medical Science, M.A.
The Master of Arts in Medical Sciences at Heritage University (HU) is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in a health-related field. The program introduces students to a broad range of topics in the medical sciences while strengthening their academic credentials for admission to Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program and other professional schools. Students who have already completed their course requirements for admission to the PNWU D.O. program can demonstrate their readiness for professional school by taking some courses alongside first-year medical students at PNWU. It is anticipated that greater than 80% of program graduates will gain admissions into a professional school.
The curriculum in the M.A. in Medical Sciences program is closely aligned with the first-year medical curriculum at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) with two (2) major courses having nearly identical content and faculty.
Master of Science - Physician Assistant, M.S.P.A.
The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies is for any healthcare professional with at least 1,000 hours of hands-on patient care who wishes to further his or her career by becoming a licensed physician assistant. Students benefit from 12 months of academic setting, followed by 12 months in a clinical setting. Occasionally, students also travel to the Yakima campus of Pacific Northwest University (PNWU) to work alongside doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) students, implementing the concept of healthcare teams.
