FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Deadline to Apply for New Scholarships at Heritage University is Fast Approaching
Toppenish, WA — There's now less than two weeks left for the valley's brightest students to apply for one of seven new scholarships at Heritage University.
Applications for the Heritage Soar Scholarship are due Monday, March 3, 2014 at 5 p.m. Students can start the application process at “HUSoar.com,” a website built specifically for the scholarships. The merit-based scholarships are available to those students wanting to earn their degrees in one of five areas of study: nursing, business, the humanities, education, and the fields of science, technology and mathematics. Five of the scholarships are available to new Heritage University students, and two will be made available to existing students. The students selected will receive a full-tuition scholarship.
Heritage University produced a video to show prospective students how easy it is to apply for the HUSoar Scholarship. You can view it by visiting Heritage University’s YouTube page. On the video, a current student explains what is needed to complete the application.
Response has been strong, with more than 750 people expressing interest in the scholarships.
Students who attend Heritage University have the opportunity to learn from world-class professors in the Yakima Valley, and learn about the ‘real world of work’ through participation in career-launching internships with local businesses.
Another real advantage for students who choose to study at Heritage University is the small class size. “One-on-one time with professors, personal contact, and interaction with HU President Dr. John Bassett and other campus administrators, are opportunities that students who choose a large university will never experience,” says HU Provost Dr. Curt Guaglianone.
Applications will be scored based on four criteria: high school grades, PSAT/SAT or Act Scores, a personal commitment statement, and the strength of a letter of recommendation. Finalists will be notified on or about April 1, 2014, and must complete an in-person interview in front of a panel of judges before an award will be made.
For complete information about the scholarships as well as application instructions, students should visit HUSoar.com. Additional questions should be directed to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at (509) 865-8502, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
