Yakima Herald publisher to address Heritage University
Toppenish, WA — Sharon Prill, publisher of the Yakima Herald Republic and head of the Seattle Times Company Affiliate Newspaper Group, is presenting the keynote address at Heritage University's Fall Convocation on September 18.
Prill oversees the strategic direction and day-to-day operations for two daily newspapers, the Yakima Herald and the Walla Walla Union Bulletin, as well as the four weekly papers published by Issaquah Press. Her long career in publishing includes numerous leadership roles at The Seattle Times, the Tacoma News Tribune and at Journal Communications in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has overseen everything from advertising, editorial, operations, circulation, IT, human resources, finance and marketing.
Prill is a McCormick Tribune Media Fellow, National Association of Broadcasters BLT Fellow, and a graduate of Northwestern University's Advance Executive Program. She grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii and received her undergraduate degree in 1993 from the University of Washington.
Fall Convocation is one of three traditional ceremonies held at Heritage University — Spring Convocation and Commencement being the other two. Each fall faculty, staff and students join together at Fall Convocation to officially open the academic year. This year's event takes place in Smith Family Hall from 11:00 a.m. - noon. The event is free and open to the public.
