2012 Governor's Heritage Award
Heritage University is one of four organizations and individuals honored this year for their work in preserving and sharing the many cultures found in Washington State. On October 15, the University received the 2012 Governor’s Heritage Award at a ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion in Olympia.
The Arts and Heritage Awards are the most prestigious awards bestowed by the Governor. Other recipients this year included a Native American story teller and singer, a Mexican dance troupe and an Egyptian Oud master.
Since its establishment in 1989, the Governor’s Heritage Award has been bestowed upon 54 organizations and individuals. The recipients are chosen from a pool of nominations based on criteria that examine the impact made in supporting cultural heritage and diversity in Washington.
