Fulbright scholar visiting Heritage University
Toppenish, Wash. - Ukrainian Fulbright Scholar Dr. Andrei Levitsky is presenting two lectures on Ukrainian language and culture at Heritage University. Both lectures are free and open to the public.
Levitsky is a doctor of philology who teaches English as a foreign language and linguistics at Taras Shevchenko University in Ukraine. Much of his work is done with master-degree students specializing in languages and education. In addition, he serves on several committees in the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and is well versed in the country's secondary education system, currricula and academic issues. His travels to Heritage are part of the Fulbright International Educational Exchange Program.
In his first lecture Levitsky will focus on language education in the Ukraine. It will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31. During his second lecture, he will speak more directly about the Ukrainian culture and language. This will take place on Wednesday, February 1 from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Both lectures will be held in Smith Family Hall (room 2388) in the Arts and Sciences Center on the Toppenish Campus.
