Visiting artist lectures at Heritage University
Toppenish, Wa - Yakima-area painter Brian Holtzinger presents "My Life as a Short Story," a slide lecture of his work and artistic experiences, at Heritage University of Wednesday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Arts Studio and at 6:45 p.m. in the Jewett Center. Both presentations are free and open to the public
Holtzinger earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Master of Fine Arts from University of Oklahoma. He has shown extensively, including solo exhibits at Travel Sutton Gallery in Seattle; Paris Gibson Gallery in Great Falls, Montana; and Anne Reed Gallery in Sun Valley, Idaho. He has work in many collections including: The Art Institute of Chicago; George Segal Collection in Belair, California; Yee Jan Bao Colletion in Dallas, Texas; and Lightwell Gallery in Norman, Oklahoma.
In addition to the workshops, Holtzinger will serve as the juror for the 9th Annual Heritage University High School Arts Exhibit on display in the Jewett Center through April 1. The exhibit features works by students from elevent different high schools throughout the Yakima Valley. In total, 86 students were selected to participate in the exhibit. A reception for the artists and an awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 6:30, also in the Jewett Center. Several of Holtzinger's recent watercolors will be on display during the reception.
