New Alumni Referral Scholarships
Put Heritage Within Reach
A new joint program between the Office of Alumni Affairs and Admissions called “Within Reach” is giving alumni the opportunity to connect future students with Heritage scholarships.
“Our alumni are active in their communities and want to help others experience the life-changing benefits of earning a degree,” said Betsy Nagle-McNaughton, director of fund development and alumni affairs. “They know how powerful it is to have someone say ‘I believe in you and I am here to support you.’”
The program provides a tangible way for alumni to encourage individuals they feel have the potential to succeed at Heritage. Participating alumni give friends, family, students, co-workers or whomever they are encouraging, a referral card for the Heritage Pledge scholarship program. They then submit that prospective student’s name to Heritage where an admissions officer will follow up. There is no limit to the number of people an alumnus can refer.
“The beautiful thing about Within Reach is that you can talk face to face with someone and say ‘Here is a scholarship. I know you can do this,’” said Nagle-McNaughton.
Within Reach is currently being piloted with alumni in the Yakima Valley. To request Within Reach referral packets visit the alumni page at heritage.edu or contact Nagle-McNaughton at 509- 865-8565 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
