Heritage University Hosts Performance of Shakespeare's Othello
Toppenish, WA — Heritage University will present Shakespeare’s “Othello,” as performed by the Seattle Shakespeare Company Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. The performance will be held at Smith Family Hall which is located inside the Arts and Sciences Center on the Toppenish campus.
The Seattle Shakespeare Company wrote the following about “Othello” on its website: “After the high-ranking general Othello bypasses Iago for a promotion, the cunning manipulator enacts his revenge. By playing on the Moor’s insecurities, Iago paints a false vision of Othello’s faithful wife, Desdemona, which leads to a murderous fit of jealousy.”
Two other events are scheduled as part of the “Othello” performance:
- Interactive Cast Dialogue – Smith Family Hall, Noon-1 p.m. Cast members will be available to answer questions from the audience.
- Pre-Performance Lecture – HU Village, Rm. 2900B, 4:00 p.m. – 5 p.m. Paula Collucci will discuss the major themes of “Othello,” and help audience members understand what to expect from the play.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are free and available at the Heritage University Toppenish campus location at the College of Arts and Sciences office, the Library, and the Bookstore. For more information, contact Carolyn Nelson (509) 865-8546 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
